The Annual Members' Competition is open to all Members of the Embroiderers' Guild. In 2004 the competition theme was Gardens.

It clearly caught the imagination of Members as the work illustrated here shows. The prize fund of 500 was generously donated by the Worshipful Company of Broderers.

Award Winner
Pamela Jeans
Le Jardin Majorelle
Member of Bristol Branch of the Guild.

An evocation of a real place full of colour and light, and obviously greatly enjoyed by Pamela. Through layers of stitching and contrasting combinations of materials including paper, Pamela handled the shapes and spaces in the garden very successfully and described the characters of different plants with great vigour and attention to detail.

Pamela received a prize of 150 and the President's Cup engraved with her name.
