The
Picture Library consists of colour
transparencies and black and white
photographs of the finest embroidery
from The Embroiderers' Guild Museum
Collection. There are over 100 images
catalogued to date and increasingly
the Embroiderers' Guild is adding
to the Picture Library.
The images are catalogued according to their geographic origin
as follows:
British Embroideries (from C17th coifs to the C20th)
North America (Indian work and quilts)
Eastern Mediterranean (Turkey, Greece and Persia)
India (court and rural styles)
European Traditional Embroidery
(C18th and C19th)
China and Japan (symbolism and status)
