The World of Embroidery

To complement Maggie Grey's article Take a Letter, we bring you some great free downloads, courtesy of Embroidery Arts, a division of Intarsia Arts. The letter A is from the Wooden Monogram collection, currently available for purchase from the Embroidery Arts web site. The Background Squares are exclusive to The World of Embroidery - you won't find them anywhere else!

Downloading the Wooden Monogram 'A'

The file is compressed as a self-extracting file. Follow the instructions to download it.
  1. Click Download Wooden Monogram A. All formats will be downloaded at once, compressed into one file named WOOD_A.EXE. Formats included are:
    • .pes (Babylock, Bernina, Brother)
    • .pcs (Pfaff)
    • .hus (Viking)
    • .sew (Janome, Elna)
    • .csd (P.O.E.M., Singer)
    • .exp (Melco expanded)
    • .dst (Tajima)
  2. The download screen will appear. The progress bar will indicate when the download is complete.
  3. If you have anti-virus software, don't disconnect until after the software finishes analyzing the download and prompts you to save it.
  4. Note where the downloaded file (WOOD_A.EXE) is being saved, so that you can retrieve it.
  5. LOCATE THE FILE AND DOUBLE CLICK ON IT TO EXTRACT THE FILES BEFORE TRYING TO USE THEM.

Downloading the Background Squares

Each file contains 24 designs (6 different styles in 4 sizes)

1 1/4" (33 mm)
1 1/2" (38 mm)
1 3/4" (45 mm)
2 1/4" (57 mm)

Designs are 3 colors, and are digitized for applique.

The files are compressed as self-extracting files. Follow the instructions to download the right version for your sewing machine.
  1. Click on one of the links below to download the Background Squares in the format you want:
    Download CSD Background Squares - .csd format (P.O.E.M., Singer)
    Download DST Background Squares - .dst format (Tajima)
    Download EXP Background Squares - .exp format (Melco expanded)
    Download HUS Background Squares - .hus format (Viking)
    Download PCS Background Squares - .pcs format (Pfaff)
    Download PES Background Squares - .pes format (Babylock, Bernina, Brother)
    Download SEW Background Squares - .sew format (Janome, Elna)
  2. The download screen will appear. The progress bar will indicate when the download is complete.
